Land Bank Property Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Property Specialist to oversee the daily operations of vacant property inventory and property acquisition activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in real estate development and/or construction, property maintenance, and customer service. This role requires excellent organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and a commitment to providing exceptional service to all Land Bank stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and apply all Land Bank laws, programs, policies, and procedures
  • Lead in property acquisition activities that include evaluating potential Land Bank properties and drafting acquisition plans for parcels that are deemed feasible for strategic disposition.
  • Maintain current listing of all Land Bank Properties on website.
  • Monitor activities taking place on/with current Land Bank inventory.
  • Ensure that all properties are properly maintained.
  • Assist Executive Director and Board of Directors in reviewing, vetting and approving all development project plan applications.
  • Assist Executive Director in selecting contractors for major Land Bank projects.
  • Acts as general contractor in coordinating work done with contractors for repairs and improvements to properties as needed.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction science, real estate, business administration, engineering, or other related field of study. Combined with a minimum of 5 years of proven experience in real estate, construction, single-family or multi-family housing development, or related fields.
  • OR 10+ years of proven experience in real estate, construction, single-family / multi-family housing development, land survey or related fields.

Skills

  • Under general supervision, the Property Specialist operates with significant autonomy, employing independent judgment to determine the best courses of action for acquisition, property maintenance, and disposition.
  • Strong knowledge of property maintenance practices and procedures.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Strong administrative skills with attention to detail in documentation and reporting.
  • Understanding of relevant laws governing usage and code compliance.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is advantageous.
  • Proficient in office software applications for reporting and communication purposes.
