Partnerships matter for three key reasons:
Shared Resources Revitalization work is resource-intensive. Demolitions cost money. Redevelopment takes time, capital, and labor. By working with partners, DRLBA is able to pool resources, reduce costs, and stretch every dollar further — maximizing the impact of our work for DeKalb County residents.
Complementary Expertise Every partner brings a different set of skills and knowledge. DRLBA specializes in property acquisition and land management. Nonprofit housing organizations bring expertise in affordable housing development. Local government agencies provide regulatory support and community access. Together, these complementary strengths create a more complete and effective approach to revitalization.
Community Trust Perhaps most importantly, partnerships build trust. DRLBA’s Key Partners in Action
ANDP — Atlanta Neighborhood Development Partnership ANDP is one of Georgia’s leading nonprofit affordable housing organizations. Their expertise in developing and preserving affordable housing aligns directly with DRLBA’s mission to return vacant properties to productive use. Together, DRLBA and ANDP work to ensure that redeveloped properties create genuine homeownership opportunities for DeKalb County residents — not just market-rate developments that price long-time community members out.
Habitat for Humanity Habitat for Humanity needs no introduction. Their model of community-driven, affordable homeownership is a natural fit for DRLBA’s work. By partnering with Habitat, DRLBA is able to connect acquired properties with an organization that has the capacity, the volunteer base, and the mission alignment to turn those properties into homes for families who need them most.
DeKalb County Government Our relationship with DeKalb County government is foundational to everything we do. From coordinating blight demolitions to monitoring tax sales for acquisition opportunities, our collaboration with county officials ensures that DRLBA’s work is integrated into the broader strategies and priorities of DeKalb County. This partnership also ensures accountability and transparency — two values that are central to DRLBA’s mission.
What Strong Partnerships Look Like in Practice
In April 2026, DRLBA demonstrated what effective partnership looks like in action. Working alongside DeKalb County officials and community partners, DRLBA coordinated the demolition of fire-damaged properties in Stone Mountain and Lithonia — removing dangerous structures and clearing the way for future redevelopment.
Around the same time, our newest team member, Acquisition & Development Manager Wendell Olden, was already on the ground building relationships with ANDP and Habitat for Humanity — laying the groundwork for future projects that will bring new housing opportunities to DeKalb County communities.
